ISS proudly joins ‘One Water’ in the effort to improve the water crisis

ISS is very proud to have switched its bottled water supply to One Water and are now helping ‘The One Foundation’ to bring water and sanitations systems to the poorest countries in the world.

According to the World Health Organisation, there are more than 663 million people in the world with no access to clean and safe water. Meanwhile, in developed countries; the importance of clean water is sometimes taken for granted. Not only do our bodie need water to live, we also need water for cooking and personal hygiene.

In those less fortunate countries, people need to find every possible water source and in most cases risking their health by drinking stagnated water they found after searching for days. This water is sometimes a source of disease that rapidly spreads not only to humans but farmed animals too. The result, nearly two billion people affected by water related diseases and one child dying every 90 second in the world.

You don’t have to look too far back in history to find similar issues even in Britain and America. Just over 100 years ago, water related diseases killed hundreds of thousands of children in New York and London alone. It was the development of water sanitation systems that prevented more deaths. This improvement was named the best medical advancement by the British Medical Association since 1840.

For countries such as Malawi, economic scarcity makes it nearly impossible to bring water and sanitation systems to vast rural areas, and the people suffering from the water crisis has now reached more than 1.5 million.

Without the help of non-profit organisations this crisis would have been so much worse and that is when organisations such as ‘The One Foundation’ put all their efforts into improving the lives of millions of people in the world’s poorest countries.

‘One’ is a bottled water brand created exclusively to fund water projects in Africa. It originated in 2003 when founder Duncan Goose decided to put his marketing expertise to create a brand that could be sold in the UK, with all profits allocated for the provision of water to the poorest regions in the world. Since then, ‘The One Foundation’ have raised over £14 million for sustainable water projects, from water and sanitation programmes to pump repair and bringing clean and safe water to over 3 million people, partially through donations and the sales of their bottled water and juices. ISS is a proud partner of ‘The One Foundation’ stocking One Water in all its outlets across the HEAD business. By doing so, ISS is giving its customers the opportunity to be part of these special, life changing projects and allowing its customers to become instant heroes and changing the life of millions of people across the world.
